Calm - Connection - Clarity
Hi, I'm Kate, a Counsellor & Psychotherapist providing both short and long-term therapy to adult (18+) individuals in Nayland, near Colchester in Essex & Online.
I am a BA (Hons) degree-level qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering a warm and non-judgemental space where you can feel understood and supported - just as you are. My passion for this work stems from my own experience of therapy, which brought about meaningful and lasting change in my life. I know personally how transformative it can be to have someone walk alongside you through life's challenges and it's a privilege to now offer this to others.
I welcome and work with people from many different backgrounds, facing a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, grief, childhood issues, stress, family struggles, relationship problems and more. No problem is too small.

Above all, I believe our therapeutic relationship comes first - it is the foundation of all meaningful change. My aim is to offer a safe space where trust and connection can grow. As a registered member of the BACP, I bring genuine care and ethics into my work.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and respect. The way I work is predominantly person-centred, which means I believe that you are the expert in your own life, I don't offer quick-fixes or coaching. Instead, together we will explore your thoughts and feelings at your own, unique pace, helping you to gain greater self-understanding and confidence in finding your own way forward. All of this combined can help to support and strengthen your own natural capacity for healing and growth, - easing distress, increasing your self-worth and improving the quality of your relationships.
People come to me for support with a wide range of issues. Here are a few (but not all) of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Anxiety
Depression
Family estrangement
Low self-esteem
Work-related stress
Relationship problems
Trauma
Bereavement and grief
Jealousy
LGBTQ+ counselling
Anger management
Domestic abuse

I offer therapy from a private room located in Nayland, near Colchester (CO6) based at Nags Corner Business Centre, easy to reach by car from nearby places such as North Colchester, Dedham Vale, Sudbury and surrounding North Essex/South Suffolk villages. The building is surrounded by beautiful countryside settings and green space, away from the hustle and bustle of town centres and there is ample free parking right outside.
In addition to face-to-face sessions, I provide online therapy, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own space, wherever you are.
Whether you prefer to meet in person or connect remotely, I aim to create a safe, supportive environment tailored to your needs. Please get in touch to ask any questions or to arrange an initial session.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis but this can be discussed based on your individual needs. The cost is £60 per session, I can offer a limited number of spaces at a lower cost for anyone struggling financially on a low-income, please ask about availability.
During your first session, we will go over confidentiality and what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, I will follow your unique pace. You'll be offered a non-judgemental space to talk about what is important. My focus is always on you and our working relationship.
Please note that cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will still require full payment. I accept payment by bank transfer.

Ready for the next step? Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works or to arrange an initial 15 minute phone assessment. This is informal and enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
Alternatively, we can simply arrange our first session via email or text. I completely understand that some people might find talking on the phone anxiety provoking.
It's helpful for me to know a brief outline of what brings you to therapy and whether you've had any before, please state this in your message.
You can contact me via the form or call/text on 07450 344481. Enquires are usually answered within 24 hours on business days (this excludes weekends), and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
